CNC Metal cutting

Metal cutting is a metalworking process that produces a metal workpiece of the desired size and shape. At Prekutas MB, metal is cut in a variety of ways, depending on the type and complexity of the workpiece and the customer’s needs. We always guarantee a good result, precision, speed and quality.

METAL CUTTING

Which metal cutting method to choose?

We can currently offer plasma cutting, laser cutting or wire cutting (wire electrical discharge machining, WEDM). Let us briefly discuss these methods:

Plasma cutting

This technique uses a digitised CNC machine with a plasma cutter. The plasma torch moves automatically according to the drawing, controlled by computer. The plasma cutter requires plasma gas and auxiliary gases to operate. The amount of gas is individually adjustable according to the metal workpiece.

Advantages of plasma cutting:

Ideal for construction works: this method is recommended for products in the construction industry that do not require high precision and is suitable for thicker metals. Plasma cutting is also used to cut electrically conductive materials.

Cost-effective solution: since plasma cutting is used for thicker metals that do not require high precision, it is a relatively cost-effective way of processing metal.

Laser cutting

This is a widely applicable and efficient method of machining sheet metal using CNC machines: the metal workpiece is cut using a strong, concentrated laser flux. It is an advanced technology that is suitable for cutting both individual metal products and larger quantities.

Advantages of laser cutting:

Speed: we use new-generation ultra-precise laser that can process metal faster than many other cutting methods.

Wide range of applications: the laser can be used to process metal workpieces of different applications and sizes. It is suitable for a wide range of industries, from jewellery, medicine, to robotics.

Suitable for many metals: we can process non-ferrous and ferrous metals. Laser cutting of ferrous steel produces a clean cut, allowing blanks and parts to be painted or electroplated without additional machining. The modern lasers also cut non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, copper or brass efficiently and accurately, so we have a solution for

every customer!

Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM)

High-voltage electrical discharge can be used to machine metal (CNC EDM machines). A special wire generates this discharge and uses the energy to cut the metal workpiece.

Advantages of wire electrical discharge machining:

Suitable for different workpiece thicknesses: different wire thicknesses are used depending on the volume of the metal workpiece. It can be used for both thin, fragile and thicker metal workpieces.

Suitable for complex projects: This technique can be used to produce complex shapes and patterns that would be difficult to create using conventional cutting tools.

WEDM characteristics:

• Dimensions: 550x400x200 mm;

• Cutting diameter: 300 mm.
