METAL TURNING

WHAT IS CNC metal turning?

At Prekutas MB fabric, metal turning is used for the production of metal parts of various shapes (cylindrical, conical, spherical, profiled, flat, etc.). This technique is perfectly suited for the production of complex structures. Turning is also used to produce threads, steps, to machine contoured surfaces and much more.

How is metal turning carried out?

Metal turning is carried out using special cutting tools: automated CNC lathes and turning knives.

The metal workpiece is turned in the machine and the automatically controlled knives cut away the unnecessary layer of the metal workpiece until the desired shape is obtained.

Why choose metal turning?

This metalworking technique is appreciated for several important advantages:

Wide range of applications. Turning is a versatile metalworking technique that can be applied to external and internal surfaces. Turning can also be used to form grooves, cut and cut off parts of structures, make threads and other meticulous metal turning operations.

A reliable way of cutting metal. Although there is a wide variety of metalworking techniques available today, turning remains one of the most popular methods. Using metal turning, we can produce large and small, standard and original parts and other products in a short space of time.

Suitable for different metals. Metal lathes are suitable for plain and hardened steels, non-ferrous metals, also for stainless, refractory and difficult-to-machine metal surfaces.

Fast turnaround time. With modern CNC lathes, turning is fast: we can produce the desired structure in under twenty minutes (depending on the complexity, size and volume of orders).

Excellent value for money. When you look at the results achieved with metal turning – creating unique shapes and structures of different sizes in a short time – it is a relatively inexpensive method of metalworking that really pays off.

What determines the quality of turning work?

Several factors determine the final result. Let’s briefly discuss each of them:

Specialist experience. Metal turning requires skill and experience (especially when producing unique shapes). Entrust this task only to qualified professionals who work with certified metal turning equipment, have the necessary knowledge and know-how for the job.

Metal evaluation. The specialists carrying out metal turning work must assess the properties, composition, thickness and surface roughness of the metal in question. Based on the evaluated technical characteristics, the rotational speed and turning force of the tool are selected.

Quality equipment. A high-quality lathe is equally important. MB Prekutas uses modern, automated CNC lathes that speed up the metal machining process, ensure precision, robustness and excellent work results.

If all these criteria are met when turning metal, you can rest assured that the machining of the workpiece will be accurate, safe and will result in the desired shape of the metal structure.
